i just bought an 87 shock of ebay for 40$ and the knob on the ressivor doesnt move but there is another adjustment on the bottom of the shock that says soft or hard which one is the commpresion adjustment

do u have to have the linkage for it too go on your blaster or can u do with out and if you can how...
