the 250r shock does work on any year blaster. but you can NOT use the 1986 rear shock because it is even longer. use 87-89. if the shock hasent had an oil change or anything i would definetly have that done, it greatly helps in the performance of the shock. it is also best to have it valved for your weight to acheive the best performance and not crack your swingarm from having it to stiff or to soft. altogether it cost me about 300. that is the cost of the shock(i got off of ebay), an oil change, a new bumpstop, revalved for me and shortened 1''. it is awsome and cheaper than a works. if anyone is going to be using the shock and has any questions about mounting ect... you can e-mail me at highflyer34@msn.com later, Jason

HUGE difference .. the stock blaster shocks really sucks , if you buy a R shock you'll have no regrets thats right, when I had my stock shock I jump maybe 3ft in the air and I bottom out, it sucked ass, then I went and spent 110 bucks and got front shee shocks and a 250r rear shock, I set it all up how I liked it (adjustments) and I hit a jump and I'd say I was 10ft in the air landed on flat ground and didn't bottom out.. The R shock is awsome its cushiony it sucks up all bumps..

I put a 86 R shock on my 2001 and it isnt too long. it raised it up maybe an inch. but i put shee shocks on the front and they raised it about 1/2 inch so it worked out fine for me.

guys, are ya'll serious about your stock rear shock bottoming out? im 160 pounds, have my stock blaster shocks on the firmest they can and im hitting doubles that are around 20 ft. tall. im serious...i ride hard...and i have only bottomed out one time....it was just a plain 14ft. drop off into a dry creek bed....and my shocks were as soft as they could be set to...and...i couldnt ride for about a week after that little "blue balls" incident. but seriously...that was the only time they bottomed out...and it was my fault.. other than that my stockers have fit me fine.

Rule #1: never wear boxers while riding. Gotta keep them away from that damn seat, its a killer. lol
anyways. Im 160lbs. I bottm my rear shock all the time.. I have works fronts and they take it. But my rear slams down like i ahve no susp at all. Thats why i have a 400ex rear on mine now. 90x better. just like the 250r shock. The 400ex and 250r rear are prolly just as good or better then and elka Rear for a blaster. Tehy also can easily be turned into a LT shock. Just gotta reloacate the mount.

wow you got screwed, phragle did all that and some to mine for $75....haha since when does phragle do revalving?? the revalving and shortening cost me like 150 or so, bumpstop, new OEM was like 30.00. and when i first got the shock, i had the oil changed- 90.00. then later on i had that other work done... i think i paid around 80.00 for it on ebay about year and half ago
