ok, heres a little how to for shortening your silencer.
step 1: remove silencer from quad. remove endcap and stinger from the canister.
step 2: remove the old packing.
step 3: use a measuring tape and felt pen to make marks at the length you wish to cut it to. i chose to take off 2.5 inches.
step 4: make many marks at the desired length for easier line drawing
step 5: draw your line all the way around
step 6: measure location of holes for the endcap and plot them behind the line at which you are cutting. (these have to be precise)
Step 7: Secure the canister in a vice and use a cloth so it isnt marked up. dont tighten it to much, as that will result in a warped canister.
Step 8: use a sawzall, grinder or hacksaw to cut the excess off. be sure to stay on coarse.
step 9: fit endcap on and note where the high and low spots are. use a file, sandpaper or grinding wheel to even them out.
step 10: drill holes for the endcap
step 12: cut the core so you tae the exact same amount off as the silencer
step 13: wrap core with new packing and secure with masking tape if needed. do not wrap too tightly.
step 14: reassemble silecer and your all done!
