blaster not firing! help! how to test coil?

alright, seems like i keep having one problem after another. well i just bought a 240 blaster. has been sittin for 4 years. ran b4 it sat. well i finally got everything all together and now im not getting any spark! well. i pulled the coil off, cleaned all the connections, pulled the flywheel off and it was pretty rusted and wet on the inside, well i cleaned it very very well and dried it out, and now my spark plug boot just pulled right out of the coil. so im guessing i have a bad coil also. is there anyway to test it? thanks!

is your spark plug boot all the way on the spark plug?

im pretty sure it is. i accidentally pulled the boot all the way off but i screwed it back into the wire. im not sure if this is a problem or not? but i just installed an oil pump block off kit and i removed my oil tank. should i connect the 2 wires that were connected to the tank or do they matter? thanks
