Hello all I am new to this site and I am also new to the Blaster. I just got my Blaster about a week ago, and I have rode alot of 4 strokes before, but this is the 1st 2 stroke I really have ever been around. It it supposed to be bored out and have some other mods, but can't say for sure because I just got it. I know that it has an FMF pipe, but I wanted to ask if it normal for a 2 stroke engine to sound like it is knocking or something inside the engine is making a ticking sound. It's kind of hard to describe, but I know nothing about 2 strokes, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I know what you mean, it's normal. Sometimes it just sounds scary but it is normal.

its not ALWAYS normal. it can, might be bad. to low of an octane fuel, lean air screw adjustment, air leak...
let someone that knows a lot about 2 strokes listen to it.. hopefully they can help you more. because there is a fine line between its a normal noise, and detonation.. and its not easy to describe over the net.

well, its hard for us to help you because we are not riding your quad... are you sure it come from the engine? i suggest you to go to your yamaha local dealer or any GOOD shop around with your quad and let a mechanic listen to your engine and take a little ride on the parking.

Yeah, it can always be something else but mine has always made that noise and both of my friend's Blasters make the same noise too. It doesn't do it a lot, only when it warms up or your just messing around on it... not really riding fast/far.
