I bought a 2001 Blaster a few months ago. Didnt realize it at the time until I rode it a few times, but it had a engine noise. Sounded like it was coming from the top end... almost like a rapid slapping/ knocking/metal to metal noise which was really noticeable at idle. Not like hammer to steel loudness but a very distinct rapping sound. I had a few people listen to it and without taking apart the motor they claim my top end was worn or shot or maybe something in the bottom end was busted. So after a hard ride in the woods my original motor went snap, crackle, and pop and that was the end of it. So recently I bought a brandnew motor off an 04 Blaster from ebay. I had my doubts, but this motor didnt have a scratch on it, the top end was clean as can be, no signs of being ran at all. Installed it yesterday and to my surprise the same rapping engine noise sound is back. Not as loud but still there. My question is, does the Blaster have a normal top end engine noise? I've only had one person tell me that they are a noisey motor. Help me please b4 I blow another motor.

yea it has a noise that is very different from 4 strokes. my guess is uve never had a 2 stroke before. its sound isnt as clean as a 4 stroke it makes a strange metal cliking sound im guessin ur old motor was about to blow so thats why the sound was louder n thats why it blew..the new motor will have the same sound..not an expert but thats what i think is the deal..

2-Strokes just don't last as long. It's always good to look at reviews for ATV's and stuff before you go out and buy one. 2-Stokes need a lot of maintenance and fixing. Both of my friends (their not brothers but they live together) have Blaster's and i don't think i've heard any kind of noise that you've described. I'm going to their house Saturday so i'll listen and see if i can hear anything like that.

Blasters/Air cooled 2-strokes by nature always sound like they are about to blow up.If you have any concerns about the condition of your motor just check your plug and do a compression test.
