Hey guys, I have an uncle who has been welding for the past +30 years and he really knows his stuff. How safe is it to extend a stock swing arm doing it yourself. I am very confident in my uncles work and so is he. I have a few questions though... and if possible does someone know where I can locate some diagrams of the swing arm, where it is safe to cut, where to cut etc. Anyone that has a stock extended swing arm please leave some feed back here. I'm thinking about picking one up on Ebay for cheap and see how it goes. I just want some feedback first.

hey i just did the same thing just dont use to much heat it will warp all the shock and axle carrier mounts but my swing arm is 2.5 inches. This is how u do it
1. cut the swing arm right behind the shock mount like not to cut the round tube and keep the same stock shock geometery.
2. make plugs to fit in the holes and weld it up.
3. make gussets and grinde down welds make sure everything is straight.
4 pait or powder coat the swing arm and ur done

you should make a jig for it or else it will move. if you wont then it will not be straight and you'll be screwed
