Okay. I want a roundhouse swingarm, but I dont have like 700 bucks. So, I'd like to make my own. I was thinking about it. I can mig weld like no one's business(toot toot) and I've also heard that you can use a blaster/banshee axle in a Raptor or likewise, and Raptors are Roundhouses. Soooo, If i get an aftermarket RPM axle, then a Raptor swingarm, just to cut the roundhouse part out of it, and then make it like 2.5" longer than stock.... Would this work? KURT? Can you talk to your people and help me out?? Thanks people.

dude, i have no idea, lol. I guess it would, if you make it similar to your blaster swingarm then just welded the carrier into it. Don't know anybody that has custom made a roundhouse swingarm off the top of my head, so I don't know who you could ask. If you do plan on making something like that, keep us all up to date on your project, it sounds interesting

What will you do when you have to connect the Raptor swingarm with the frame/rear end motor part?

I was just gonna use the very rearest part of the swingarm... and make my own like rails and crap. Are raptors even roundhouse or do i see too many modded bikes? Anyway, I got an idea of what i could do anyway. Just make one outta tubing... rails and cut some pipe for the swingarm bearings... Then just buy a carrier... IDK, I'll have to research some more... Hrmm. Either make my own and know it's been done right, or..... spend 4-5 more on it and buy one? NAH, I'M GOOD> Plus, I'm doing it for all Blaster riders, trust me... I'ma try to kill the Blaster roundhouse market... Plus I got time. Cuz it's gonna take a minute to build my bike. Brandon

brandon, i would'nt MIG it,(not enough penatration)do you know of someone with a arc(stick)welder?if your any good with the mig, then stick won't take you much time to pick up. if you insist on MIG here's some suggestions- V out the joints deep. run the amps as high as you can slow the wire speed way down if it looks to be burning through, stop stitch the first pass run multi passes run stringers - don't weave wire brush with a 4" grinder(keep it clean) clamp the crap out of it(the heat will make it pull like crazy!! if it warps you'll chew up bearings
if you have any questions e-mail me drewvir@comcast.net
good luck it'll be very cool when done(braggin' rights)

Isn't the raptor swingarm aluminum? Steel and aluminum are not compatible to weld together.
mig can be every bit as strong as a stick weld. It all depends on alloy. Ramping the amps all the way up isn't the answer to penatration. If you turn up the amps all the way you will do two things. 1 is change the temper strength of the steel if its not done properly. 2 lay a crystalized weld that is weaker then putting it together with chewing gum.
