Aloha Everyone, Just found this site and it is sick! Im hoping to get some ideas from you all . I just got my first quad , a 2001 Blaster and yes , you got it the brakes are iffy. Ive worked on Hydraulic brakes on cars but this mechanical rear disc is new. So this is the situation . Took it out riding and the rear brake didnt work at all . So I jacked up the quad and noticed rear wheels not spinning freely . So I took the brake caliper apart and greesed it all up and noticed the left pad was free to move around but the bigger left pad was stuck solid. Is it supposed to go back in forth to take in and out or just be stuck solid?? So I put it all back togeter and got the rear wheels to spin alot more freely and adjusted brake nut on handle bars and it works a little better. I know , by a hydo brake and a manual , but all money spent on the quad. And 3 kids. If anyone can let me know how to adjust these brakes Id really appreciate it. Thanks everyone.

Don't waste your time on the cable brakes, they are no good, just get a warrior/banshee rear set-up and the bracket kit from DADDIO (on Project blaster) you will be better off. I got the warrior setup off ebay for 50 bucks for everything...pedal, rezzy, tubing, pads and calipers and the bracket stuff from DADDIO for 35 bucks shipped.

here is how I fixed mine, take teh rear cap off, remove the linternals, I put mine in parts washer to remove all old lube, remove caliper and pads, the big pad has an o-ring be carefull dont tear it, I uses a small fine brake hone to do a quick clean up of the bore the big pad fits in, put a fine smear of gease on bore, not to much though you dont want that on your pads or disc, then reassemble and adjust brakes to your liking, make sure youe put some light grease on the internal parts of the rear brake it helpd the parts operate smoother, this should help get you going till you can install the hydro brake set up.
