What spark plugs are you guys running. I am running race gas on the new ported top end and would think it would make sense to run a colder plug (BR9ES). Also, why does yamaha recommend the resistor plugs for the 03+, but not for the older models? As far as I know, they didnt change the ignition?

I have a BR8EVX but its been discontinued by NGK. My quad runs great with it. NGK came out with a plug to replace it, its called a BR8EIX (platinum urinium) but it really sucked in my quad. I would reccomend running a BR8EG NGK race plug. ;D

i run the stock br9es tried it w/o resistor, it sucked.
oh, and my dad runs a br8eg in his xr400 lol

I work at oreilly auto parts and i bought one of the new iridium plugs by ngk and run in mine there like 7 dollars and mine worked fine better than the stock one.

Thanks for the help, I am going to try the BR8EG plug. The website says its for racing purposes only, so I guess its intended for race gas. I didnt even know this plug existed!

it exsits in my dads xr400 lol, but i was wondering should u run 1 of these if the only thing u have is a pipe?

I went to the locar stealership and they didnt have the BR9EG, they said they would have them in a week. I guess I will be running the 8 for a little while longer. I will let you know how it runs when I get the 9. Blastermax, how did the 9 plug run for you?
