I've broken several front mounts over the years with stock bores and the counterbalance still installed, the stock mounts are very thin gauge metal and are prone to breaking, my last stroker engine broke the mounts within a week of being in the 03 chassis, so I would beef them up also if you have the engine out too.

i realy doubt you would need to beef up the engine mounts at all, i believe the reason criminalpoet had to do so was because he is running his with the counterbalance shaft removed= alot more vibration. Actually the first time I broke them I was still running my Hollywood Dirt Productions PD3 stock bore cylinder with Hollywood Dirt Productions 2mm stroker. Any race motor thats really putting out gobs of power will crack the stock motor mounts. At least thats whats happened to me. Its always the front motormounts too, usually the left side goes first.

i believe thats the thing... stroker, lightened flywheel, bigbore etc......... any of those things will change the engines "harmonics" with a stock sleave, stock crank etc high comp and porting i have never had one crack at all, could see it easily happening though, you guys are right there isnt much metal there on the front mounts.

Every builder of race blasters I've talked to says the same thing. There are SEVERAL weak spots on the blaster chasis that need reinforced in order to be reliable for the abuse of racing. One of them IS the engine mounts, and another is the SHOCK mounts. Why spend the time and $$$ to go fast and hard without making SURE that your chasis will hold up!?

yea running with the counterbalance out really makes it vibrate, and no matter what reinforcements you do to your frame, it's still going to break in some spots over time if you race a lot. this post is really old, how did it get started up again? and why? lol

Everyone I've talked to says the 240s are extremely tempramental and tend to heat, which is why you generaly see them drag racing only. EVERYONE has told me to stay away from them here in the desert. I thought that the new nicasil kits were only about $100 more than a good port job and they already have it done? It's all because of this dude LOL

i have heard no bad about ct's sonic 240 kit and they have packages that come with the pipe and silencer, which i know u were wanting..it seems like a 240 would be good for you since you wont be racing......
