Photoshop isn't "free." You can download it for free (which of course is illegal) from programs like Bear Share, Lime Wire, Kazaa, etc. It actually is a very expensive program to buy and the latest version is #8 which is Photoshop CS. I myself have Photoshop 7 and it is fine.
At first it's a very complicated program so don't just expect to open it up and make amazing pictures and banners like Jesse or for that matter anyone else. There is a lot to learn and it takes some time. I barely use it because at times it becomes very tedious and i can be very impatient. It is fun to use but like i said... there's a lot to it and you do need to learn the basics before anything else.
