The problem with exotic metals, besides the cost, is that they are hard to work with. For example, to weld titanium tubing you have to back purge (fill the tubes) with argon gas and weld them in a chamber. Also, some exotic metals are strong, but brittle. Speaking of Beryllium, pure Beryllium is not available, it is usually used in an alloy of softer metals (copper) to add tensile strength. This is not usually available in tubing, but as solid rods. C17300 Cu-Be is only 1.8-2 weight percent of C17300. In other words, beryllium would not work well.
